Proper hand washing

Thorough hand washing only takes about twenty seconds. To ensure proper hand washing in my establishment, train my food handlers to follow these five steps.

o  Wet your hands and arms with running water as hot as you can comfortably stand

             (at least 100 F)

        o  Apply soap

o  Vigorously scrub hands and arms for ten to fifteen seconds. Clean under fingernails

             and between fingers.

o  Rinse hands and arms thoroughly under running water

o  Dry hands and arms with a single-use paper towel or hand dryer. When leaving the

restroom, consider using a paper towel to turn off the faucet and to open the door.
